Trains!
When Evan was four, it was trains trains trains–every day! That finally ran its course and the trains took some time in the closet, hoping to reemerge some day. Since Grayson so looks up to his brother and wants whatever his brother wants, I thought that our fun train set wouldn’t get much attention again. Well…since Evan has been back in school, Grayson has asked for the trains–every day! We have had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to set things up, without a helpful older brother to tell us a better way to do it.

Cool trains. It is tough for the little one left behind when the older sib goes to school. I’m glad he has something special to do, and something that makes him feel connected with Evan to boot.
Isn’t it great to see him get more comfortable and confident on his own! He sees things differently from Evan of course, and the freedom to do things his own way (some of the time at least) is so important. Those trains are kind of amazing as toys, too. You can make up stories about them because they all have names and personalities, or concentrate on building the best track pattern ever devised.
